From the Lab to the Screen
Presentations, media appearances, and personal moments — Dr. Shlofmitz beyond the procedural table.
Watching Dr. Shlofmitz in Action: Navigating Discordant Diagnostics: AngioFFR vs. iFR vs OCT
In this live case, Dr. Rich Shlofmitz walks through a real-world clinical scenario in which three diagnostic modalities, AngioFFR, iFR, and OCT, yield conflicting results, creating a challenging decision-making moment at the table. The case highlights how interventional cardiologists navigate discordant data across hemodynamic and imaging tools to determine the best path forward for the patient. Dr. Shlofmitz provides expert commentary on the strengths and limitations of each modality and how to reconcile disagreements between them.
Calcium Management with OCT: Strategies for Diverse Presentations
In this live case, Dr. Shlofmitz and Dr. Jeremias explore the use of OCT imaging to guide calcium management across a range of complex coronary presentations. The case demonstrates how OCT provides detailed visualization of calcified lesions, informing treatment strategy selection and optimizing outcomes for diverse patient scenarios. Together, Dr. Shlofmitz and Dr. Jeremias discuss their approach to modifying and managing calcium, offering practical insights drawn directly from the procedural table.
Everything’s Fine, Until It’s Not: Impella-Assisted Complex PCI
This live case captures the unpredictable nature of complex percutaneous coronary intervention, illustrating how a case can shift quickly and demand rapid clinical decision-making. Featuring Impella-assisted support, the case highlights the critical role of mechanical circulatory support in managing high-risk patients through challenging PCI procedures. Dr. Shlofmitz, Dr. Moses, and Dr. Jeremias walk through their real-time responses to evolving circumstances, offering a candid look at how preparedness and expertise guide outcomes when complications arise.
Complex PCI Without the Heat: First Use of Radiaction System
This live case features a real-time demonstration of the Radiation medical device, with Dr. Shlofmitz walking through the procedure while providing hands-on education on its use and application in the interventional lab. The case offers a practical look at how the device integrates into complex coronary workflows, with expert commentary on technique, setup, and decision-making throughout.
Optimizing PCI Fellows Imaging & Physiology Boot Camp
The Optimizing PCI Fellows Imaging & Physiology Boot Camp brought together interventional cardiology fellows for an intensive two-day, hands-on training workshop held at Oheka Castle in Long Island, New York. The course offered expert-led instruction with the goal of transforming angiographers into skilled imagers and physiologists in just two days. Course Directors Ziad Ali, MD, Allen Jeremias, MD, Gary S. Mintz, MD, Jeffrey W. Moses, MD, Evan Shlofmitz, DO, and Richard Shlofmitz, MD brought world-class expertise to this first-of-its-kind dynamic learning experience. The event was made possible through the generous support of St. Francis Hospital and the Shlofmitz Heart Foundation.
